A VISIT TO THE CRASH SITE

AND SURROUNDING AREA

17th August 2003

Twisted fuselage panels lay all around the area and the scar to the landscape is easily made out from a distance. Not the usual elongated marks of a crash landing but a circular crater. The plane dived straight into the ground, with no rear control surfaces it would have been an almost vertical descent. The ground is full of small fragments, battery casing, perspex from cockpit instruments and even a small torn piece of parachute silk.
